Turner Communications Scholarship Endowment Fund
Marietta and Jot Turner of Bismarck, North Dakota, established the Marietta Ekberg Communications Internship Scholarship in 2000. The earnings from the gift are used to employ a student intern for the summer season. This intern works with Marketing and Public Relations Director Wade Westin during the summer to learn about the intricacies of the media and signage in Medora. Marietta Turner was looking for the right way to honor her mother, Marietta Ekberg, whom she said has a great passion for Medora. Mrs. Turner said she hopes the student recipients will learn an appreciation for the things that helped her parents, Bill and Marietta Ekberg, be successful. She said her mother’s gifts are “an ability to form unusually good relationships, deep love of North Dakota, and strong roots,” and her father has made everything in life a “great adventure.”
The 2007 recipient of this internship was Ann Riippa from Bloomington, MN.
