Named for the volunteer cavalry unit led by America’s 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt, you’ll fall in love the moment you arrive and see the immense hearth reaching to the tin-tiled ceiling, with walls housing one of the largest private (yet available for you to read) library of books on, and by, Theodore Roosevelt.

Our historic suite is this property’s largest historic room. Modern amenities and period-looking furnishings are not the only worthwhile things it offers. This corner room has a view of the town square, and boasts the property’s largest tile shower. Amenities include a coffee maker, cable TV, and wireless internet connection. This room is only accessible by stairs.

We preserved the original structure (once a boarding house) for which our property gained its notoriety, installed modern amenities, and added period-looking furnishings. No two rooms are entirely alike so the aesthetic places you squarely in the days of old. Amenities include a coffee maker, cable TV, and wireless internet connection. This room is only accessible by stairs.

Our tower suite boasts the property’s only functional balcony, providing guests a third-story view of a nearby butte, which was once home to the town’s working coal mine. Indoors is a bedroom with a king bed, sitting area with a sleeper sofa, and kitchenette. Other amenities include a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, cable TV, and wireless internet connection. This room is handicap accessible, with a roll-in shower and shower bench.

Check-out time is 11:00 AM MDT on the day of your departure.
All rooms are non smoking and no pets are allowed in any guest room. In the event this policy is violated, we reserve the right to charge a $300 fee.
All guests are required to present a valid credit card for incidentals. Guests choosing to pay with cash must do so at check-in. The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation reserves the right to authorize your card for the full amount of your stay to ensure it is valid.
We are happy to accommodate accessibility needs upon request. All properties have available a portable Deaf/HOH Guest Room Kit, and are wheelchair accessible.
Reservations for the Rough Riders Hotel, Badlands Motel, Elkhorn Quarters, and Medora Campground are only available by reservation center staff, available at 1-800-MEDORA-1 or at MEDORA.COM. Lodging properties owned and operated by the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation are exclusively booked in-house and it’s our pleasure to make those reservations for you directly. There are many third-party booking sites out there, so keep an eye out; we cannot guarantee a room booked through an unofficial, third-party booking site will be available upon arrival.
To cancel a reservation, a 24-hour advance notification is required to avoid a cancellation fee. Rooms cancelled after 4:00 PM MDT the day before arrival or no-show reservations will be charged for one night’s stay. Rooms purchased with a package are non-refundable. No pets are allowed in any guest room. In the event this policy is violated, we reserve the right to charge a $300 fee.

Located in the historic Rough Riders Hotel, an elegant meal awaits you at Theodore’s Dining Room. After a full day of shows, hiking, and shopping, head downstairs to the best dining in the west. Plus, pair your dinner with a signature cocktail or excellent wine from TR’s Tavern before heading to the Medora Musical or turning in for the night.
